DENVER – A Pueblo man was indicted Tuesday in federal court for allegedly selling undercover FBI agents more than 100 grams of suspected heroin, selling them a purple handgun, and being in possession of several other guns illegally.

Daniel Vasquez, 30, faces one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon. He was indicted in U.S. District Court of Colorado Monday.

The federal criminal complaint for Vasquez’s arrest says that he had been convicted and served prison time for controlled substance possession three times in 2005, 2007 and 2008, and for escaping custody in 2010.

It alleges that on March 17, an undercover agent bought nearly 53 grams of heroin and a purple Pavona Witness .380-caliber handgun at Vasquez’s auto business, Get Your Fix Automotive. The complaint also says that Vasquez tried to sell the agent methamphetamine.

Four days later, an agent bought another 13 grams of heroin from Vasquez, who again told the agent that he had guns for sale, according to the complaint.

And on April 7, Vasquez again sold 52 grams of heroin out of the auto shop.

On Aug. 31, according to the complaint, FBI agents served a search warrant at Vasquez’s home in the 2600 block of Cedar Street, and recovered a Glock 9mm handgun.

Since Vasquez has prior felony convictions, he is not allowed to possess a gun, hence the illegal possession charges. The complaint was filed Sept. 1, and Vasquez was indicted on Tuesday after being arrested on Sept. 8.

If convicted of all three charges, he faces between 5 and 60 years in prison and a fine of up to $5.5 million.
