BROOMFIELD, Colo. – Police are looking for a suspect in an attempted carjacking that happened early Sunday morning.

The suspect is accused of trying to take a woman’s car at an apartment complex in the 13600 block of Via Varra Road around 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

Police say the man pretended he had a weapon in his pocket and demanded the woman get out of her car. She drove off, however, and called police as the suspect ran after her.

A police and K-9 unit search of the area did not turn up the suspect.

He is described as possibly being Hispanic or Middle Eastern, 6-foot-3 inches tall with black hair. He had a full beard and mustache at the time of the alleged attempted carjacking.

Police were able to put together a sketch based off the woman’s description of the suspect, which can be seen above.

Anyone with information on the incident or possible suspect is asked to call Broomfield Police Department Detective Dale Hammell at 303-464-5733.
