DENVER – A pedestrian injured in a hit-and-run crash involving three vehicles in downtown Denver Friday night has died, the Denver Police Department said in a tweet Saturday morning.
The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was taken to Denver Health Medical Center following the crash. The victim was declared dead about 12 hours later.
A Medina Alert was issued for maroon 2006 Toyota pickup truck with Colorado license plate BRI-869, but was canceled shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday, after police tweeted both the vehicle and the suspect had been found in Lakewood.
DPD spokesperson John White told Denver7 the driver of that vehicle was taken in custody. That person has not been identified.
The sports-filled atmosphere kept officers busy through the late hours of Friday as thousands of Nuggets and Rockies fans descended onto downtown Denver.
Around 7 p.m., a Denver officer trying to break up a LoDo brawl between multiple people near 19th and Market was injured when someone threw a bottle at him.
The officer suffered a laceration to his head and was treated and released from Denver Health. Police are investigating the case. It’s unclear if a suspect has been arrested at this time.
