FORT COLLINS, Colo. – A Medina Alert was issued Wednesday evening for a hit-and-run vehicle after the driver reportedly struck a woman near Colorado State University and left her on the road as temperatures dipped below freezing.
The vehicle, described as a red or maroon vehicle – possibly a Honda CRV with a dark window tint – was last seen going east from the intersection of W. Mulberry St. and S. Howes St., Fort Collins police said in a tweet.
The vehicle could have sustained damage on the front passenger side following the crash, police added.
Police did not immediately provide a further description of the vehicle, including make and model or license plate number. The woman was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
W. Mulberry St. was closed from College Ave. to Meldrum. St. in both directions while investigators combed the scene. It reopened shortly after 9 p.m.

A Medina Alert honors the memory of Jose Medina, a 21-year-old valet driver who was killed by a hit-and-run driver in 2011. A taxi driver witnessed the event, followed the driver and gave police the license plate number, leading to the capture and arrest of the suspect.
