DENVER (AP) — A man who was involved in a shootout that left two people dead and two others injured northwest of Denver has been sentenced to 26 years in prison.

The Denver Post reports 25-year-old Brandon Karr was sentenced Friday for the Aug. 16 death of 30-year-old Edgar Munoz. Karr was convicted in May of second-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and second-degree assault.

He fired from a vehicle into a crowd as he and a group of friends drove away after a confrontation at a mobile home park.

Investigators say 25-year-old Rojelio Heredia fired at the vehicle, hitting and killing Karr’s cousin, 22-year-old Dustin Karr. Heredia was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Investigators say Brandon Karr and his companions provoked the fight.
