DENVER – The man arrested last week in connection with the killings of three people near a light rail station near Broadway and I-25 in early August was formally charged Tuesday with three counts of first-degree murder after deliberation.
Maurice Butler, 38, is accused of shooting and killing Christopher Zamudio, 45, Nicole Boston, 28, and Jerome Coronado, 39, on Aug. 9. Police have said they believed all three were transients.
Police said last week they believe Butler knew at least two of the victims and said the murders were not random.
They haven’t said what led investigators to arrest Butler for the murders, and the affidavit for his arrest is sealed by court order, so further details about the case are not currently available.
