DENVER – A man who had been wanted in the stabbing death of a 17-year-old boy on Colfax Ave. in Capitol Hill was arrested earlier this week and faces a murder charge in the teen’s death.

Auviauntea Evans, 19, faces one count of first-degree murder after deliberation after he was arrested by Denver police on Sept. 10.

Evans is accused in the deadly stabbing of Reese Grant-Cobb, 17, which happened around 11:15 p.m. on July 1 outside of the Bourbon Grill near the intersection of Colfax Ave. and Pearl St.

Police said at the time of the stabbing that Grant-Cobb had been assaulted by several people and had been stabbed. He died at an area hospital.

DPD said shortly after the stabbing that a juvenile was taken into custody and that they were looking for Evans and possibly another suspect. Prosecutors direct-filed the murder charge against Evans on July 24 and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Evans is set to make his first court appearance Friday morning.
