LONGMONT, Colo. – A Longmont tutor is facing felony charges after admitting she had a sexual relationship with an underage student, according to police records obtained by Denver7.
The arrest affidavit states police launched an investigation into Natalie Nicole Gulyas, 35, when one of the parents caught the two kissing in their home kitchen on Feb. 20.
Gulyas and the underage boy were separately interviewed at the police department where both admitted to not only kissing, but also to touching each other in a sexual manner while the boy’s parents were away from home. Both also admitted to sending nude photos to each other on several occasions, the arrest affidavit shows.
The police report also shows the underage boy had talked to Gulyas about needing to “keep their relationship quiet until he turns eighteen.” Gulyas told police she had also thought about continuing the relationship until he reached 18 years of age, according to the report.
The affidavit also states one of the boy’s parents became concerned about their tutor-student relationship turning into something more as one of the parents had asked both to give “each other space when studying, as they would be sitting close to each other at the table or on the couch.”
This prompted the parents to install an app that alerted them to conversations between the two.
Longmont police officers were able to get a hold of a log of those text records, the affidavit shows.
In one text conversation sent from Gulyas phone a message reads, “Low or high ‘special’? Above my belly Button or below?”
The next message, coming from the underage boy reads, “We have to be careful [redacted] put a parent watcher app on my phone. He can see my web history, texts, photos, and call history.”
The affidavit also shows Gulyas then asked the underage boy to “delete the conversation now…”
At first denying “ever receiving inappropriate texts or phone calls” from the boy, Gulyas eventually described in detail how their sexual relationship developed over a few weeks during the interview, the police report shows.
Gulyas is facing three felony counts in this case. She was charged with one count of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust and charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
Her next court appearance is on May 18 at 9 a.m. at the Boulder County Justice Center.
Denver7 reached out to Gulyas' lawyer for comment but has not heard back.
