Lafayette police seek man who sexually assaulted child on walking trail

LAFAYETTE, Colo. — Police in Lafayette are looking for a man they say sexually assaulted a child on the Coal Creek trail.

According to a statement from the Lafayette Police Department, the alleged assault occurred on March 30 between the hours of 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on the trail underneath the US. Hwy 287 overpass. 

Police released a composite sketch Tuesday of the man accused in the trail attack. 

He is described as a white male in his 20s with a “beer belly.” He is about 6-feet tall and has red or dirty blond hair with a scruffy, short beard growing on both his face and neck. 

The suspect was last seen wearing a blue long sleeve shirt, black “shiny” tennis shoes with a zigzag pattern on the sole.  

The suspect was also described as having bad breath, body odor, and dirty untrimmed fingernails.
