AURORA, Colo. – An Arapahoe County jury last week found an Aurora chiropractor guilty of sexually assaulting a young girl over an 18-month period.

The jury found Craig Martin Stice, 58, guilty of eight felonies – four counts of sex assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and four counts of sex assault on a child – pattern of abuse.

According to the district attorney’s office, Stice and the girl met through the girl’s parents and the abuse started when the girl was 8 years old. The girl told her mother about the crimes in May 2017 after which the sheriff’s office began its investigation.

The girl testified about the crimes during the trial after Stice’s not-guilty plea, the district attorney’s office said.

“Not only did this defendant sexually assault his victim, but he also cowardly refused to take responsibility for his actions, forcing her to recount her ordeal in front of strangers,” Deputy District Attorney Tara Buchalter said. “She found an inner courage and gave strong and truthful testimony, ensuring that this man will be held accountable and kept away from other potential victims.”

Stice faces between 8 and 24 years in prison for each count when he is sentenced Jan. 17. He will be held without bond until then.
