COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The victims of an apparent road rage incident on Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs flagged down a passing Fountain police officer after a driver shot at their vehicle, according to a release from the Colorado Springs Police Department.

The Fountain police sergeant was driving southbound approaching the Garden of the Gods Road exit Friday afternoon when he stopped to assist the victims. They told the officer that there had been a road rage incident and the suspect had shot at their vehicle. Nobody was injured.

As the Fountain officer was speaking with the two victims, the suspect vehicle drove by and was identified by the victims, the release read. The officer followed the car and conducted a stop.

The driver of the vehicle, Michael McGinnis, 34, was arrested. Police said they recovered multiple firearms from his car.

McGinnis was booked into the El Paso County Criminal jail on two counts of attempted murder and reckless endangerment.
