CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward to try and get more information on a person or people who started a wildfire by using illegal fireworks at Bluffs Regional Park on July 4.
The incident, which South Metro Fire Rescue is calling arson, happened as people gathered at the park in Lone Tree around 10:30 p.m. to watch the area’s professional fireworks display.
The person police are looking for started lighting off illegal personal fireworks nearby in the dry grass, which caught some of the grass and other brush on fire.

“This behavior was irresponsible and put lives and property at risk,” said South Metro Deputy Fire Marshal Rich Conroy.
