Fifth person arrested after missing man's remains found in Mesa County

MESA COUNTY, Colo. — A fifth person has been arrested in the Kyle Free homicide investigation.

After a warrant was issued for his arrest by the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old Nathan A. Ryan of Grand Junction was taken into custody in Iowa.

He was charged with accessory to first-degree murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.

He is being held at the Mills County Jail without bond.

Free’s remains were found in Mesa County on Dec. 5 after he’d been missing since April.

On Nov. 27, authorities made their first arrest in the case. Rebecca Walker, 34, of Clifton, was charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.

A few days later on Dec. 5 Timothy Zane Russman was arrested in connection to Free’s death. He was charged with accessory to the crime of a first-degree murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.

On Monday, the sheriff’s office obtained arrest warrants for John C. Eddy and David S. Castro. They are being held in the Mesa County Detention Facility without bond on charges of suspicion of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
