COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – An El Paso County sheriff’s deputy was arrested Wednesday for investigation on felony theft charges.

Deputy Michael Christian, 33, faces two counts of theft between $100,000 and $1 million, a class 3 felony. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says it was notified Wednesday of Christian’s arrest, which came on the heels of an investigation by the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Though authorities have yet to release any details about the case, court records show the alleged theft occurred between March 2010 and March 2017.

The sheriff’s office says Christian was hired in March 2008 and has been put on administrative leave without pay while his case proceeds through the courts.

Court records show Christian posted a $10,000 bond Wednesday after his arrest.
