DENVER — Authorities are investigating a bizarre shooting in west Denver Wednesday afternoon where the victim hopped on an RTD bus and traveled several miles before police were called.

The shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. near West Colfax Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard, Denver police spokesman Doug Schepman said. Suspect information has not been released.

Police say the male victim, who was shot in the abdominal area, boarded an RTD bus shortly after the incident.

Twenty minutes later, police were called and responded to a report of a shooting victim near South Federal Boulevard and West Florida Avenue.

Schepman said the victim told police he was shot twenty minutes prior and then got on the bus. It's not clear where he was heading.

He was stable despite suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the events that led to the shooting. No arrests have been made.
