MORRISON, Colo. – Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials are offering a reward for information on who shot arrows at a doe who had just given birth in Morrison.
The doe was found by a resident of the Willow Springs neighborhood with arrows inside her: one in her gut, the other in her neck. CPW said they euthanized her due to her condition.
Neighbors said the doe had just given birth. Now, they’re worried about the fawn’s chances of surviving.
Jason Clay, a spokesperson for Colorado Parks and Wildlife, said anyone with information should call Operation Game Thief at 1-877-265-6648 or email game.thief@state.co.us.
CPW is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to charges on the person who shot the deer.
“It is not hunting season — this was poaching,” said Clay. “Poachers are criminals and should be dealt with as such.”
Persons responsible for poaching could face a misdemeanor or felony charge, a suspension of their hunting and fishing licenses throughout the country, as well as charges of willful destruction of wildlife, illegal taking of wildlife without a hunting license and waste of game meat, Clay said.
