ASPEN, Colo. – A culture vulture went a little too far in his search for the aesthetic in the town of Aspen and police want your help to catch him before he strikes again.
The suspect reportedly walked into the Opera Gallery wearing a disguise and slashed a $3 million piece of art twice, before running out of the building at around 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
A store employee who spoke with the Aspen Times said the suspect paid no attention to any other paintings, including works by Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall. He was only there about 15 seconds, the newspaper also reported.
The painting, called “Untitled 2004” was the work of artist Christopher Wool.
