AURORA, Colo. – The two people killed in a parking lot in Aurora last Friday night were identified Thursday as husband and wife by family members who said the young couple were parents to five children.

Joseph William Roland and Jossline Sami Roland were shot while in a parking lot in the 11700 block of East Cornelll Circle around 11:50 p.m. Friday. The couple was found by first responders and both were taken to a hospital where they later died as a result of their injuries.

An autopsy completed by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office concluded both died of gunshot wounds and their deaths were classified as homicides.

It’s not yet clear what led to the shooting, and Aurora police would not release any more details for fear that it would jeopardize their investigation. Officers said they would release more information once a significant development occurs.

The Roland family on Thursday afternoon thanked the community for the outpouring of support following the death of the couple and authorized a GoFundMe account “for those who would like to show their support this way.”

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call the APD’s Homicide Unit at 303-739-6077 or they can remain anonymous by contacting Denver Metro Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 and be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
