Commerce City police search for pickup in hit-and-run crash that killed motorcyclist

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — Police in Commerce City are looking for the driver of a Dodge pickup truck that was involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a motorcyclist.

The crash happened around 4:35 p.m. Friday at the intersection of East 72nd Place and Magnolia Street.

Police say the driver of a 2009 silver/blue Dodge pickup with Colorado license plates SMQ243 struck the motorcycle at the intersection and then fled the scene.

Paramedics transported the motorcyclist, whose injuries were described at the time of transport as potentially life-threatening, to a local hospital for treatment. However, police later announced the motorcyclist had died.

Police initiated a Medina Alert and are asking for the public’s help in locating the vehicle. 

Police say there may be damage to the pickup truck caused by the crash. The 2009 silver/blue Dodge pickup truck had a silver-colored utility work rack on the bed of the truck.
