COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — The mother of a 2-year-old Colorado boy who fatally shot himself has pleaded not guilty to child abuse.

KKTV-TV reports Melissa Adamson was arraigned Monday, with a judge scheduling her trial for June.

Authorities say Adamson left her gun unsecured and loaded when Lohki Bloom picked it up in late October.

El Paso County sheriff's investigators say surveillance footage from inside her apartment near Colorado Springs shows that Lohki shot himself moments after discovering the firearm.

According to court documents, authorities allege Adamson had argued with her methamphetamine dealer and had loaded the gun because she was concerned the dealer was going to stop by her home.

A phone number for Adamson could not be found Monday night.
