Colorado Springs police shoot armed man after responding to shots fired call

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The El Paso Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances that led up to an officer-involved shooting in Colorado Springs Wednesday evening.

Around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a report of multiple gunshots in the 2500 block of Verde Drive.

When officers arrived on scene, they found an armed suspect.

According to a release from the police department, “shots were fired” but it’s unclear who shot first or if both parties opened fire. No officers were injured.

The suspect, who was identified as 32-year-old Thomas McGeorge, was transported to a local hospital. He was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening before he was released to law enforcement.

He was booked into the Criminal Justice Center on the following charges:
· Two counts of felony menacing
· Third-degree assault
· Prohibited use of a weapon
· Reckless endangerment

McGeorge has a $100,000 bond.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into this shooting.
