DENVER — The man accused of shooting at and injuring two people, including a police officer, was formally charged on Wednesday.

Denver District Attorney Beth McCann formally filed the charges against Elijah Ruff, 25, which included two counts of criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault and one count of second-degree assault.

The charges allege that on Sunday, following a verbal altercation with a family member, Elijah Ruff, 25, shot at and wounded a female family member at a house on the 4800 block of W. 10th Avenue. He then allegedly fired at police officers who had responded to the scene. One of the officers was hit in the leg.

According to a previous Denver7 report, both the injured officer and the woman are expected to survive.

Ruff is scheduled to appear in court Friday at 8:30 a.m. for his second advisement. His bond was set at $500,000.
