PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) — Prosecutors have dropped drug and weapon charges against a man in Pueblo, Colorado because a police officer allegedly re-enacted body camera footage of the search of the suspect's car.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports that the case involved a 36-year-old man whose car was towed by police after he was pulled over and couldn't provide any registration or insurance. A subsequent search found suspected heroin, a handgun, a scale with traces of suspected heroin and cash.

According to text messages, the officer told a prosecutor that he searched the car, found the items and then called a fellow officer and re-enacted the search on camera.

Prosecutors shared that with the suspect's lawyer and dismissed the case last week.

Police Deputy Chief Troy Davenport said the case is being investigated and the officer could face discipline.
