BOULDER, Colo. — A Boulder man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after he allegedly tried to run over his girlfriend on Wednesday.

Police in Boulder arrested Alejandro Morales-Ibarra, 21, after the incident.

Around 3:20 p.m. that day, police responded to the Grease Monkey at 2405 28th St. on a report of a car that had crashed into the building.

Once they arrived at the scene, police determined that Morales-Ibarra, who had been sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle, had assaulted his girlfriend while she was driving. She was able to pull over and ran into the Grease Monkey for help. At that time, Morales-Ibarra allegedly jumped into the driver’s seat and drove into the garage bay in an attempt to run her over, according to Boulder police.

Police said he barely missed her and struck a parked vehicle that was being serviced.

Morales-Ibarra is being held at the Boulder County Jail on charges of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault, criminal mischief, criminal attempt, reckless endangerment and domestic violence.
