EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. — Authorities in El Paso County are searching for a man suspected of fatally shooting a woman and fleeing from the scene.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office said at 4:26 p.m. on Thursday, deputies and officers from the Palmer Lake Police Department responded to a shooting along the 700 block of Highway 105.
When they arrived at the scene, they found a woman who had died from a gunshot wound.
Detectives stayed at the scene for hours collecting evidence and taking witness statements, the sheriff's office said.
Multiple agencies are helping the sheriff's office and police department as they continue to search for the suspect, who has been identified as Jose Alfredo Romero, 35. He's also known as Jose Romero-Romero.
The sheriff's office said he is considered armed and dangerous. He may be traveling in a vehicle that looks like the one below.
