AURORA, Colo. – Authorities continue to search for a 20-year-old man accused of killing his former girlfriend at a motel earlier this month.

The Aurora Police Department and Colorado Bureau of Investigation are among several agencies looking for Arturo Garcia, 20, who faces a first-degree murder charge for allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend, Alexandrea “Ally” Raber, at the Knight’s Inn motel on July 1.

The arrest affidavit for Garcia says that he had a history of beating up Raber, and that she broke a permanent civil protection order to visit him at the Knight’s Inn the night of the 1st.

The affidavit says that Raber was driven by a friend to his room at the motel, which was paid for by Garcia’s probation officer, at 6:15 that evening.

The arrest affidavit for Garcia says that Raber texted her friend two hours later and asked to be picked up.

But when the friend got to the motel just before 10 p.m., Garcia came out of the room and told her that Raber had left to a nearby RTD station just minutes earlier.

The friend searched, but never found Raber that night. A maid at the motel found Raber dead inside Garcia’s room’s bathroom the next morning.

Police subsequently discovered surveillance video that showed Garcia leaving the motel on foot shortly after the friend had left. He hasn’t been seen since.

Raber’s family held a viewing and memorial services for her over the weekend in Aurora.
