DENVER — Police in Denver announced Tuesday that they had arrested a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run case that prompted a Medina Alert.

Isaac Paz, 22, was arrested in connection with the early Friday morning crash that killed a pedestrian, identified as Victor Barela, 59.

According to police, Paz is accused of striking Barela with his 2001 red Chevy sedan near the intersection of West Evans Avenue and South Bryant Street and then taking off.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash occurred around 12:45 a.m. Friday.

Shortly after the incident, a Medina Alert was issued, with the suspect’s vehicle information appearing on CDOT message boards across the area.

Paz's first court appearance is unknown. Charges have yet to be filed in the case.
