DENVER — Douglas County deputies arrested an armed suspect they say carjacked a female victim near Castle Rock Friday night and led them on a chase with the victim still in the car.

The pursuit ended in a crash on Interstate 25 at Hampden Avenue in Denver. No injuries were reported.

Around 7:30 p.m., Douglas County dispatch received a 911 text message from the victim stating she had just been kidnapped at gunpoint and she was traveling with the suspect in her vehicle, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

About 10 minutes later, deputies spotted the vehicle north of Castle Rock traveling northbound on I-25 and attempted to make a stop. However, deputies say the suspect continued northbound until crashing on the Hampden Avenue offramp.

The male suspect, whose identity has not been released, was quickly placed under arrest after the crash, the sheriff’s office said. The victim was not injured in the crash.
