Father arrested after 10-year-old boy found with life-threatening injuries following shooting in Yoder

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. — The father of the child who was shot in unincorporated El Paso County Tuesday evening has been arrested in connection to the incident.

The initial emergency call from Yoder came in around 6:43 p.m., and deputies were dispatched to the Yoder Post Office, where they found a 10-year-old boy with a gunshot wound, according to the El Paso Sheriff's Office.

The boy was transported to a hospital by ambulance and then helicopter with life-threatening injuries.

According to investigators, the shooting had occurred at the family's home along the 7700 block of Edison Road.

An El Paso County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said deputies remained at the scene late into the night investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting.

On Wednesday, the boy's father, Nikolay Krutitskiy, 34, was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Jail on the following charges:

  • Child abuse causing serious injury
  • Possession of weapon by previous offender
  • Child abuse without injury
  • Prohibited use of a weapon
  • Violation of restraining order
  • Reckless endangerment
