LITTLETON, Colo. — The social golf league, Colorado Under Par, started with the purpose of running leagues and tournaments. It was slated to tee off this spring.
"Right when we get ready to release and start our season, COVID-19 hit, and that was that -- postponed until further notice," Co-Founder Christopher Wilson said.
They can't even hold happy hours to gain new members, but they came up with a plan for something else with the members they already had.
"We spent so much time developing a following and pivot that following to help another cause," Wilson said.
So they held a raffle and took donations and purchased 200 meals for the workers at Swedish Hospital from Pho 95 in Littleton.
"So I asked them is 100 meals good? 150 meals? 200 meals good? And she said 'if you give us 200 meals, that's huge,'" Co-Founder Andrew Mueller said.
Mueller spent years in health care, so this is special to him.
"Giving back to those and supporting those workers who are still in that field is important to me. That's part of my past and something I'll never forget," Mueller said.
They're giving back before they really started.
"Golf is going to be around forever, right? Yeah, it's tough, but it just means it is a waiting game," Wilson added.
Any golfer knows, sometimes, waiting is just part of the game.
