DENVER — A Denver woman says her car was damaged one year ago during a police chase that she was not involved in and still her vehicle hasn't been repaired.
The chase ended in an officer shooting and killing of one of the two suspects. The pursuit happened June of last year and initially started in the city of Littleton and ended in Denver outside Maelene Phillips home.
Maelen’s 1999 Honda Civic was hit on the back side of the car. The damages are going to cost Maelene over $4,000.
Neither of the cities involved is liable for the damages because their officers didn’t hit Maelene’s car. According to the City of Littleton, the suspect hit Maelene’s car.
There was no restitution ordered because the case didn’t go to trial. But district attorney offices in both jurisdictions said they don't have any documents showing charges have been filed against the suspect.
Under Colorado law, auto damages that occur during a chase are not covered.
