GOLDEN, Colo -- When a single mom contacted Denver7 about a drastic rent hike, she was hoping to highlight the challenges of being able to afford housing. She never imagined what would happen next.

A check for $3,600 arrived for Tonya Lowery two days after her story aired. A viewer who wants to remain anonymous stepped up to help her cover the increase rent, allowing her to stay in her current home.

He declined to give his name, saying, "I have a belief that it's not charity if they know who you are." The anonymous donor mentioned he was vacationing in Colorado and he's been very blessed so he wanted to help.

His bank cut a check and sent it out that same day. Denver7 delivered the check to Lowery and she was shocked. You can watch her reaction in the story above.
