DENVER — Anna Malic and her family just came to the U.S. three years ago in September from the Philippines.

“September 17 is our third year, so we had dinner September 16. Then September 17, when he started the pain. He started feeling something on his stomach,” she said.

Her husband Allan's pain didn't go away, so he got a colonoscopy.

“It’s heartbreaking. Actually he came home. When he came home I was like, 'hey, what’s the result?' It was so simple: 'I have a cancer,'” Anna said.

The 54-year old father of four has stage four colon cancer. A fifth-degree black belt is in a fight for his life.

His care isn't cheap, even with insurance. Obviously he can't work and Anna is furloughed working part-time now.
