COLORADO SPRINGS — A spokesperson for the Colorado Springs Police Department says 4 people were arrested this morning following an officer-involved shooting at the intersection of S. Chelton and Delta Drive. Authorities say two of the suspects in the incident suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Additionally, two CSPD officers are now on paid administrative leave, per policy, following the shooting.
According to Colorado Springs Police, officers were following up on a report of an armed robbery at a convenience store on Colorado Avenue involving suspects seen leaving in a 4-door Toyota SUV.
The officers spotted the car at 14th and W. Colorado where shots were fired by the suspects, according to CSPD. The chase went from the west side of the city to the southeastern side. Police state the suspects fired on officers several time during the chase before officers took action to get the vehicle off the road.
The two officers on leave reportedly fired at least one shot each at the suspects. No officers were injured in the pursuit or shooting.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office will manage the investigation into the shooting as under Colorado law they are the agency to investigate any shootings that involve officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department.
