Air Force Academy Cadet 3rd Class Nathaniel Penalosa accused of using and distributing drugs on base

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A hearing has been scheduled for a U.S. Air Force Academy cadet accused of selling and using LSD, Molly and other drugs on a military base.

Cadet 3rd Class Nathaniel Penalosa was charged with several drug crimes on July 1. The Academy did not release information about the charges until August 13.

According to the Academy, Penalosa is charged with using and distributing LSD, Modafinil and Molly, a violation of Article 112a of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. He’s accused of manufacturing Molly, as well.

Molly is a name for MDMA or methylenedioxy-methamphetamine.

An Article 32 hearing, similar to a grand jury hearing, is scheduled for August 17. The officer who presides over this case will recommend to the Special Court Martial Convening Authority whether or not to dismiss the case or move forward.
