Body Found Near Estes Park Is Missing Psychic

Kathy Adams Missing Since Oct. 12

A body found near Estes Park over the weekend has been identified as a missing Fort Collins woman.

The body was lying in a ravine off U.S. Highway 36 on Saturday.

Kathy Adams, 57, was reported missing on Oct. 12.

Her death has been ruled a homicide, but police did not say how the woman died or how long she had been dead before her body was found.

The search for Adams and her common-law husband, John Marks Jr., began a week ago when Larimer County sheriff's deputies conducting a welfare check at the couple's East Mulberry Street home found suspicious circumstances that made them suspect foul play, according to an agency statement.

Investigators will not reveal what was found, to protect the investigation's integrity, said sheriff's spokeswoman Eloise Campanella.

"Investigators have not been able to locate John Marks Jr.," Campanella said Monday. "Investigators are interested in speaking to Mr. Marks as well as anyone else who has information regarding this incident."

Adams sister, Debbie Mitchell, told 7NEWS that Adams lived in fear of her 48-year-old husband and was determined to leave him because he was abusive.

On Oct. 13 -- a day after the investigation began -- investigators found Marks' 1995 silver four-door Buick LaSabre parked at a Longmont motel near Interstate 25 and Colorado Highway 119. The motel is 30 miles south of the couple's home outside Fort Collins.

Investigators waited five days to go public with the car discovery because "they're just really keeping things close to the vest on this investigation," sheriff's spokesman John Schulz said when it was announced.

Adams worked as a psychic and was also known as "Psychic Kay."
