DENVER -- If your family needs help this holiday season, this is the week to apply.

The Salvation Army is taking applications from families needing toys for children and grocery store gift cards.

Families can register at six locations in the Denver metro area on Saturday, November 12 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Call 303-295-3366 to find your local Salvation Army.

To apply, you'll need a picture ID, birth certificate or school records for each child in your household and proof that you've been at your current address for 30 days, such as a utility bill or lease.

If you don't have all of these items, the Salvation Army says you're welcome to attend the Thanksgiving Meal
on Nov. 26 and Christmas Eve Meal on Dec. 24 at the Colorado Convention Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Last year, the Salvation Army said it helped Denver area families with more than 24,000 toys and 4,500 food boxes.
