Want to take the family to Disneyland, but can't afford the air fare?
Frontier Airlines is having an air fare sale TODAY (Thursday, August 24) ONLY that'll get you to Orange County, California, and back for under $75 roundtrip.
Of course, since it's Frontier Airlines, you'll have to pay extra for an assigned seat and for a suitcase.
Some families get around the baggage fee by having everyone in their group bring a backpack, which is free, as long as it's no bigger than 14"H X 18"W X 8"D.
Some families pay for one checked suitcase and put everyone's items in the one bag.
How do you get this fare?
Go to Frontier's website. Pick your dates to fly. The dates for this sale are August 28 to October 4. You have to fly on a Saturday or Monday through Thursday.
I searched Denver to Orange County, the closest airport to Disneyland. I searched Saturday, September 30 and returning Tuesday, October 3. I found a non-club ticket for $39 to Orange County and a non-club ticket back to Denver for $49. (I booked a morning flight to California and an evening flight back to Denver so I would have four days in California, but only have to pay for three hotel nights.)
You'll notice the price is $86.40. We'll reduce that later with a promo code. For now, hit enter.
Add your traveler details, hit enter.
Look at the available seats and decide if you want a middle seat for free or buy a seat. Buying a seat will add $9-$24 per ticket. Remember, the $75 roundtrip price does not include paying for a seat.
Now to baggage. A checked bag is $25 each way. A carry-on bag is $30 each way. Again, consider going with no bags or just one checked bag for your whole group.
After the travel insurance page and rental car page, you'll notice an option on the right side of the screen that says "add promo code." Enter Save90.
That'll cut your airfare by 90%, but not the taxes, dropping the price to $68.40 roundtrip.
Enter your credit card and start packing!
Again, to find the best deal, you'll need to fly on a Monday through Thursday or Saturday. You have to fly between August 28 and October 4. You'll have to go without bags and possibly a seat assignment.
This may sound like a pain, but many families have told me that this occasional flight deal means they can take their family on a trip they normally can't afford.
