DENVER – You might want to get those skis, poles, helmets and goggles ready after the city’s first real snowfall of the season this week, because ski and snowboarding season is already here.
Wolf Creek Ski Area announced Wednesday it will be first resort to open its doors this weekend after getting 14 inches of snow at the midway. The resort will open with Treasure, Bonanza and Nova Lifts operating on Oct. 13 and October 14, until conditions allow for full-time operation.
Arapahoe Basin, which is usually the first resort to open for the season in Colorado, hasn’t announced an official opening date, and neither has Loveland Ski Area, which competes with A-Basin to be the first to open for skiers and snowboarders alike.
Here are the projected opening dates for Colorado’s ski resorts, ranked by opening date. Note: Some of them may open sooner than expected or later than announced; it all depends on snow conditions in the Colorado backcountry.
