Another rabid skunk has been discovered in Jefferson County.

It was found near Highway 93 and 58th Avenue, just north of Golden. Jefferson County Public Health received test results confirming the second skunk tested positive for rabies.

Due to public health concerns, the skunk was euthanized, according to Jefferson County Public health officials. They also said they don't believe it exposed any animals or people to the disease.

The first rabid skunk was discovered at the end of April.

It had come into contact with a dog in Arvada, but fortunately, the dog was up-to-date on its vaccines and is okay.
