DENVER – National Park Week starts this Saturday, so what better way to celebrate than to head to Colorado’s national parks and monuments… for free?
The National Park Service (NPS) is waving entrance fees to all parks this Saturday, April 20 – a great opportunity if you’ve been trying to get out of town but haven’t found a good excuse to do so.
Luckily for us, we don’t have to travel far to enjoy this freebie.
Colorado boasts not one, but four national parks, which are scattered across our beautiful state: Rocky Mountain National Park, Mesa Verde National Park, Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.
The Centennial State also boasts four national monuments, which are also offering free admission this Saturday: Colorado National Monument, Dinosaur National Monument, Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, and Hovenweep National Moment.
A word of caution: The free day waiver does not cover amenity or user fees for activities such as camping, boat launches, transportation or special tours.
