1. Slow Food Nations

What: Founded in Italy to fight the growing fast-food movement in the late 80s, the Slow Food Movement has gained a lot of attention and has affected the way we think about eating nowadays. The weekend celebration will combine the energy of a street food festival, the rigor of an academic conference and the inspiration of a cultural exchange.

Where: Several locations throughout downtown Denver

When: Saturday, July 15 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission: Free, except for ticketed events

2. Colorado Irish Festival

What: Held in the heather of Clement Park in Littleton with a backdrop of the Rocky Mountain Highlands, the Colorado Irish Festival celebrates all that is green. The eclectic gathering will be full of kilts, bagpipes, Gaelic sports and Irish step dancing as well as the best Irish rock and classic music “this side of the Emerald Isle.”

Where: Clement Park, 7306 West Bowles Avenue, Littleton, Colo.

When: Saturday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

3. Pearl Street Arts Festival

What: Prepare to witness one of the biggest outdoor galleries of the summer in Colorado during the annual Pearl Street Arts Festival. More than 100 local and visiting artists come down to showcase their works which include sculptures, handcrafted wood furniture, jewelry, glass and photography.

Where: Pearl Street Mall, 1942 Broadway, Boulder, Colo.

4. Summerfest in Evergreen

What: Prepare for arts, crafts, live music and more in Evergreen at the annual Summerfest Community Festival! You’ll also have the chance to shop while the little ones enjoy some time at the kids’ activity area. Food and drink vendors will also be on site.

Where: Buchanan Park, 32003 Ellingwood Trail, Evergreen, Colo.

When: Saturday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

5. Denver Southeast Model Train Show

What: Are you a train aficionado? Then join toy train enthusiasts from around the nation they come to Denver for the Denver Southeast Model Train Show! The event is open to the public.

6. Free Day at the Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms

What: Enjoy a free day at the Denver Botanic Chatfield Farms! The 700-acre native plant refuge and working farm is located along the banks of Deer Creek in southern Jefferson County.

Where: Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms, 8500 W. Deer Creek Canyon Road, Littleton, Colo.

When: Saturday, July 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission: $5 per vehicle, $8 per van

7. Colorado Renaissance Festival

What: Prepare to dress up in period-accurate fashion, bring your appetite for turkey legs and get ready to return to the past, because the 41st annual Colorado Renaissance Festival is coming back to Larkspur this weekend.

When: Saturday, June 10 – Sunday, July 30

Where: 650 West Parry Park Avenue in Larkspur, CO.

Admission: Adults $24, Children between 5 and 12-years-old $12, Children under 5 get in free.
