DENVER -- Every weekend, Denver7 compiles a list of some family friendly events you might enjoy. Here are our picks for the 7 best things to do in the Denver metro area this weekend. 

1. Velorama Festival in RiNo

What: Craft brews, food trucks, bike events, games, art installations and three full days of music is what you'll find at the Velorama Festival in RiNo. 

Where: 27th and Blake Street in Denver.

When: Friday, Aug. 17 from 4 p.m. through Sunday, Aug. 19 at 8 p.m.

Admission: $55 for both Friday and Saturday, $10 for Sunday only. Three-day tickets are $110.

2. Adopt your new furry friend for free this Saturday

What: Along with several other shelters around the state, the Dumb Friends League will waive its adoption fees on all pets — cats, dogs, kittens, puppies, bunnies, guinea pigs and more — on Saturday for Clear the Shelters, a nationwide pet adoption drive.

When: Saturday, Aug. 17

3. Hit these Colorado Peach Festivals this weekend

What: Lafayette, Fort Collins and Palisade (duh) are celebrating all things peaches this weekend - and you won't want to miss out. The Palisade Peach Festival is located 232 miles west of Denver, but if you don't want to drive too far, head on out to the Lafayette Peach Festival, which is located 22 miles northwest of the Mile High City. If you want something in between, then head on out to the Fort Collins Peach Festival, about 64 miles north of Denver.

When: Friday, Aug. 17 and Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018

4. Golden Fine Arts Festival

What: A Golden icon for nearly 30 years, the Golden Fine Arts Festival is a prestigious juried art show located in the heart of historic downtown Golden. More than 130 artists will come down to showcase their best work in nine categories. There will be art, live performances, craft beer, food vendors, and children’s activities. 

Where: Downtown Golden

When: Saturday, Aug. 18 and Sunday, Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

5. Tacolandia at Civic Center Park

What: It doesn't have to be Tuesday for you to enjoy unlimited tacos, booze and plenty of live entertainment - and WestWord is bringing it all together during their annual Tacolandia event at Civ Center Park. Over 40 taquerias and Mexican restaurants will give you all the tastings you'll ever need. 

Where: Civic Center 

When: Sunday, Aug. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. 

Admission: Between $35 and $65

6. The 2018 Denver Parade of Homes

What: Dozens of new, custom-built homes will be on display in the Denver metro area starting this week. The Parade of Homes includes 75 newly-built homes throughout the Denver metro area, all of which are up for sale. The tour is self-guided, allowing potential buyers to browse whichever homes they want whenever they want.

When: Thursdays, Friday, Saturdays and Sundays starting Aug. 9 through Aug. 26; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

7. Buy local, straight-from-the-farm fresh produce 

What: You know our winter season is finally over when farmers' market start popping up in your neighborhood. Luckily for all of us in Colorado, there are dozens of places to choose fresh produce from before winter makes its comeback in just a few months.   

Where: Various locations across Colorado

When: From Monday through Sunday

Admission: Free (unless you end up buying something, of course)
