1. Get gear-ready for the winter season at the Colorado Ski & Snowboard Expo

What: The Colorado ski and snowboarding season came early, but if you still haven't prepared you might want to check out the 27th annual Colorado Ski & Snowboard Expo. There will be live acts, interactive exhibits and ongoing giveaways to provide Expo visitors with non-stop entertainment.

Where: Colorado Convention Center, 700 14th St. in Denver 

When: Friday, Nov. 16 from noon to 10 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

2. Release that adrenaline rush at the Kicker Monster Truck Nationals

What: This adrenaline-charged family event will provide jaw-dropping displays and gravity-defying feats that promises to always leave fans entertained. Kicker Monster Truck events feature some of the most recognizable trucks names in the world, including BIGFOOT!!

3. Get a cheap book at the Denver Public Library's Winter Used Book Sale

What: If you've been looking to add to your library collection at home, good news! More than 35,000 used children’s books, cookbooks, novels, popular CDs/DVDs and more are on sale at the Denver Public Library - Central Branch!

4. Relive the 70s, 80s and 90s at the Denver Retro Con

What: Is reality too much to bear at this time? Relive the glorious 70s, the magnificent 80s, and the weird 90s at the Denver Retro Con. There will be lost of pop culture from those three decades, as well as kids toys, home decor, fashion, and music. 

Where: Ramada Plaza Denver North, 10 E. 120th Ave. in Northglenn, Colo.

When: Sunday, Nov. 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

5. Get a taste of the holidays at Denver's Christkindl Market

What: Denver’s Christkindl Market is back for another year of holiday cheer, shopping and cheer. Sip on authentic Glühwein (mulled spiced wine) or drink Bavarian style beer as you wander through the market and discover finely crafted artisan gifts for the holidays from Colorado, European and international merchants in charming wooden huts. The 18th annual Christkindl Market at Skyline Park on the 16th Street Mall opens Friday and will run through December 23.

6. All aboard the Polar Express at the Colorado Railroad Museum

What: If you loved the book and if you saw the movie, you're going to love the theatrical recreation of The Polar Express, which will have you and your family immersed in the sights, sounds and intrigue of this classic children’s tale. Prepare to be surrounded by the magic and wonder of the holiday season!

7. Switch on the Holidays in downtown Boulder

What: Live holiday music will fill the air as the city count downs to the grand illumination of the Boulder County Courthouse and the Pearl Street Mall as we get ready for the holidays! The evening will include roaming performances by the Boulder Chorale, a stage performance by the Denver Dolls and a special appearance by Santa Claus himself!
