1. First Friday Art Walks
What: Come and enjoy the local art scene at Denver’s five art districts: Arts District Santa Fe, Golden Triangle Museum District, the Tennyson Street Cultural District and the RiNo Arts District.
Where: Denver Arts Districts (several locations)
When: Monthly on the first Friday of every month, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Admission: Free

2. LIGHT! at Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center
What: LIGHT! at Gaylord Rockies is an interactive holiday experience that immerses the viewer in color, fanciful patterns and wondrous light as you walk through indoor and outdoor paths of magical illumination and music. Highlights of the event include a forest of color-changing trees, the Valley of Light, giant music wind chimes and much, much more.
Where: Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center, 6700 N. Gaylord Rockies Blvd. in Aurora, Colo.
When: Friday, Jan. 4 to Sunday, Jan. 6 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

3. First Fridays in Olde Town Arvada
What: Been to First Fridays in Denver already, but would like to explore other Colorado artists? Olde Town Arvada is putting its own spin to the free event. There will be live music, free food, drinks, and, of course, art.
Where: Olde Town Arvada, 57th and Old Wadswroth Blvd. in Arvada, Colo.
When: Monthly on the first Friday of everything month, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

4. Free day at the Denver Art Museum
What: Enjoy free admission to the Denver Art Museum. Note that special exhibitions will require a ticketed admission.

5. Penny admission for Colorado residents at the MCA Denver
What: The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver is offering penny admission to the museum this Saturday – the last you’ll be able to see the Tara Donovan exhibition “FIELDWORK.” The exhibition features freestanding objects to explain how the artists re-imagines everyday materials like plastic straws, index cards, rubber bands, Slinkys and Mylar.

6. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in Concert
What: Relive the magical word of Harry Potter live in concert this weekend as the Colorado Symphony performs the legendary score from the film which will be simultaneously shown on a big screen.
Where: Boettcher Concert Hall, 1000 14th St. in Denver
When: Friday, Jan. 4 and Saturday, Jan. 5 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.; Sunday, Jan. 6 from 1 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Admission: Tickets range from $25 to $99.

7. Watch the Charlotte Hornets take on the Denver Nuggets this weekend
What: The Charlotte Hornets are coming to the Mile High City to take on the Denver Nuggets this weekend.
