1. Taste of Ethiopia Festival

What: If you've been waiting for A Taste of Colorado, how 'bout an appetizer for something a bit different? The Taste of Ethiopia Festival, now in its sixth year, is taking place this weekend at Parkfield Lake. Enjoy food, vendors, cultural performances, a fashion show, arts and crafts, and more.

Where: Parkfield Lake, 15555 E. 53rd Ave. in Denver. 

When: Saturday, Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

2. Wear purple for Denver Broncos Training Camp

What: The unofficial start of the football season continues this Saturday morning at UCHealth Training Center in Englewood. If you’re one of the thousands of fans who plan on attending one or more of the team’s practices this year, there are a few things you’ll need to know. This weekend, make sure to wear purple instead of orange to raise awareness of Alzheimer's disease.  

Where: UCHealth Training Center, 13655 E. Broncos Parkway in Englewood, Colo.

When: Saturday, August 4 and Sunday, August 5 rom 9:30 a.m. to noon.

3. Free day at the Denver Art Museum 

What: Enjoy free admission to the Denver Art Museum.  Note that special exhibitions will require a ticketed admission.

Where: Denver Art Museum, 100 W. 14th Avenue Parkway, Denver, Colo.

When: Saturday, 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

4. Adams County Fair

What: The largest county fair in the state dates back to 1888 but don't let that stop you from enjoying the rodeo, truck pulls, ropes course, zip line, a petting zoo, mutton bustin', a concert by country music start Granger Smith and more. 

Where: Adams County Regional Park Complex, 9755 Henderson Rd. in Henderson, Colo. 

When: Saturday, Aug. 4 and Sunday, Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to midnight

5. Boulder County Fair

What: Colorado's oldest county fair turns 149 this year and if you're looking for something fun, this might be the place to be. Enjoy rodeos, animal barns, goat yoga, truck pull and more county fair-related family fun in Longmont until Aug. 12. 

Where: Boulder County Fairgrounds,  9595 Nelson Rd. in Longmont, Colo.

When: Friday, Aug. 3 through Sunday, Aug. 12 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

6. Colorado Scottish Festival

What: Prepare to immerse yourself in Scottish culture at the 55th annual Colorado Scottish Festival. The event, organized by the St. Andrew Society of Colorado, will bring you Celtic music, food, dancing and arts and crafts; as well as a historical re-enactment with the Renaissance Scots and much, much more. 

Where: Citizen's Park, 5420 W. 24th Ave. in Edgewater, Colo.   

When: Saturday, Aug. 4 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  

Admission: $0-$10.

7. Buy local, straight-from-the-farm fresh produce 

What: You know our winter season is finally over when farmers' market start popping up in your neighborhood. Luckily for all of us in Colorado, there are dozens of places to choose fresh produce from before winter makes its comeback in just a few months.   

Where: Various locations across Colorado

When: From Monday through Sunday

Admission: Free (unless you end up buying something, of course)
