1. Sloan's Lake Fine Arts and Music Festival

What: Enjoy meeting local and national artists under the big shade trees, as they display their original fine arts and crafts. Bring your lawn chairs to enjoy an eclectic mix of live music including Hazel Miller Band, Ponder The Albatross, Band On The Fence, Kelly Triplett, Franny & The Jets, Tullis Blues, Doc & Kit and more.

When: Saturday, Aug. 11 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m; Sunday, Aug. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

2. Wheat Ridge Carnation Festival

What: One of the longest running festivals in Colorado, the Wheat Ridge Carnation Festival gets its name from the post-World War II period when Wheat Ridge was home to a thriving carnation industry. Enjoy a pancake breakfast, the Carnation Festival parade, an art show, carnival games and rides, a beer garden, a car show, as well as music and food vendors.

When: Saturday, Aug. 11 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sunday, Aug. 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

3. The 2018 Denver Parade of Homes

What: Dozens of new, custom-built homes will be on display in the Denver metro area starting this week. The Parade of Homes includes 75 newly-built homes throughout the Denver metro area, all of which are up for sale. The tour is self-guided, allowing potential buyers to browse whichever homes they want whenever they want.

When: Thursdays, Friday, Saturdays and Sundays starting Aug. 9 through Aug. 26; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

4. Denver International Cat Show

What: The Econo Cat Club is bringing over 220 cats of over 50 different breeds to Denver this weekend where they will be competing and posing for internationally renowned judges, aiming to win championship tiles and points towards the prize of the best cat in the world.

5. Boulder County Fair

What: Colorado's oldest county fair turns 149 this year and if you're looking for something fun, this might be the place to be. Enjoy rodeos, animal barns, goat yoga, truck pull and more county fair-related family fun in Longmont until Aug. 12. 

Where: Boulder County Fairgrounds,  9595 Nelson Rd. in Longmont, Colo.

When: Friday, Aug. 3 through Sunday, Aug. 12 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

6. Enjoy a free day at the Longmont Museum

What: Enjoy the Longmont Museum’s award-winning exhibition "Front Range Rising," a long term exhibit on the history and culture of the region, for free! The museum has other exhibitions you can enjoy free of cost.

7. Buy local, straight-from-the-farm fresh produce 

What: You know our winter season is finally over when farmers' market start popping up in your neighborhood. Luckily for all of us in Colorado, there are dozens of places to choose fresh produce from before winter makes its comeback in just a few months.

When: From Monday through Sunday

Admission: Free (unless you end up buying something, of course)
