1. Denver County Fair

What: If you’re up for a fair-ly weird adventure this weekend, we recommend you head out to the Denver County Fair at the National Western Complex. You’ll get to experience a mullet 5k run, an alpaca obstacle course plus costume contest, roller derby, a drag queen pageant, extreme midget wrestling and metalachi (the world's first and only Heavy Metal Mariachi band).

When: Friday, July 13 from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sunday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

2. Colorado Black Arts Festival

What: Come out to City Park to enjoy a weekend full of art and culture showcasing the best from talented black artists from around the state and the nation. The three-day festival features dance, jazz, blues, soul, reggae, gospel, as well as traditional African drum and dance performances.

3. Slow Food Nations

What: Slow Food Nations, a festival which celebrates good, clean and fair food for all, is in Denver this weekend. This three-day event combines the fervor of street food, the passion of learning and the experience of a cultural exchange.

4. Denver Flea Market

What: The Denver Flea Market is coming back to the RiNo neighborhood this year. Shop from hundreds of vendors, enjoy pop-up bars, good music, food trucks and more - including a Talking Heads + Taco Party on Friday.

5. Colorado Irish Festival 

What: Held in the heather of Clement Park in Littleton, with a backdrop of the Rocky Mountain Highlands, the Colorado Irish Festival celebrates all that is Green. This eclectic gathering of tens of thousands is known throughout the west for its outrageous display of kilts and bagpipes and Irish step dancing; and the best Irish rock and classic music this side of the Emerald Isle.

6. Enjoy a free day at the Longmont Museum

What: Enjoy the Longmont Museum’s award-winning exhibition "Front Range Rising," a long term exhibit on the history and culture of the region, for free! The museum has other exhibitions you can enjoy free of cost.

7. Buy local, straight-from-the-farm fresh produce 

What: You know our winter season is finally over when farmers' market start popping up in your neighborhood. Luckily for all of us in Colorado, there are dozens of places to choose fresh produce from before winter makes its comeback in just a few months.

When: From Monday through Sunday
