Vice President Biden took the stage at tonight’s Oscars to introduce Lady Gaga and speak in support of the White House’s campaign to prevent campus sexual assault, “It’s On Us.”
After close to 30 seconds of standing applause, Biden thanked the crowd.
“I’m the least qualified man here tonight, thank you,” Biden said.
While introducing Lady Gaga to sing her nominated song “Til It Happens To You” from the documentary “The Hunting Ground,” Biden asked the audience and those watching the show to sign on to the pledge at the "It’s On Us" website.
“Let’s change the culture,” Biden said. “We must and we can change the culture so that no abused woman or man like the survivors here tonight ever have to ask themselves, ‘What did I do?’”
Lady Gaga left it all on the Academy Awards stage Sunday night. The Oscar nominee delivered the show's most emotional moment as she sang "Til It Happens to You."
The song was written for "The Hunting Ground" — a documentary about alleged sexual assaults on college campuses. Gaga was later joined on stage by dozens of young people, holding hands in solidarity.
Earlier in the day, the vice president's office launched a new "behind-the-scenes" Twitter account for Biden. It also urged followers to sign onto the pledge at ItsOnUs.org.

Gaga ended up losing the Oscar for best original song to Sam Smith. Instead, she won as a voice for sexual assault survivors everywhere.
