DENVER — Don't let a pandemic ruin all the fun Colorado has to offer. If you've already done all the hiking your legs need, check out these fun events happening across the metro this weekend - and make sure to bring a face mask handy to protect not only yourself, but other Coloradans as well.
1. Celebrate the very best of the Mile High City with 5280 Top of the Town! This year’s annual celebration will be broadcasted live on Denver7 streaming – via your favorite streaming device. The event will take place on Thursday, July 16 at 6pm and will feature 2020 Top of the Town Readers’ Choice winners, cocktail and cooking demos, interviews with Coloradans, music and more. 2. Arvada Festivals Commission presents Drive-In Movie Night! This Friday, July 10, head over to the Strenger Soccer Complex in Arvada to catch a showing of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Tickets are $30 a car, which includes two small scoops of ice cream from the Scrumptious Food Truck. Gates open at 8 p.m. with trivia before the show at 9 p.m. There are a limited amount of tickets available so make sure you secure your spot soon!
3. Head over to the National Western Events Center to check out the Just Between Friends fall consignment shop. Just Between Friends is North America’s leading children’s and maternity consignment sales event. You will find everything you need to care for your children, in new or gently-loved condition at typical savings of 50%-90%. The sale is going on from now until Sunday, July 12. Admission to all events are free unless otherwise noted so be sure to check out their website for event information. All team members and shoppers must wear a face mask when in the building.
4. Escape from the lights and check out some of the best areas to stargaze with Colorado Stargazing: Experience the Night. Through their website you can discover several Colorado locations known for their dark skies and incredible stargazing information and opportunities.
5. Check out The John Denver Experience at History Colorado from now through August 16, 2020. The John Denver Experience is a tranquil no-to-low touch environment. It is set amid the ambience of aspens and evergreens and backed by a soundtrack of essential John Denver songs that are punctuated with the sounds of nature. The experience features a sunshine room, nature photographs taken by Denver, concert footage, and photo ops with life-size John Denver cutouts. Artifacts on loan from the John Denver Estate, including an all-denim ski suit and handwritten lyric sheets, are also on view. Capacity is limited and a timed ticket is required. Members must reserve a spot and tickets for non-members must be purchased in advance.
6. The Colorado Photographic Arts Center is proud to announce its 57th Annual Juried Members’ Show, a tradition that showcases the talents of CPAC’s core constituency and provides local artists with an important exhibition opportunity. Timed entry to see the exhibit will be offered between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Due to COVID-19, visitors are asked to wear masks. The number of visitors in the gallery will be limited. At 7 p.m., a virtual Zoom award ceremony with the juror will take place. Registration for both the in-person event and the virtual Zoom is required.
7. Parker Arts Drive-In Series is bringing concerts, trivia night and more to the PACE Center parking lot. This Friday, July 10, don’t miss a live performance from the The Cody Sisters. Seeing this band is quite an experience as they blend Americana, Gypsy Jazz, Folk, and Modern Bluegrass together in a completely unique way creating a Modern Americana/Roots sound. The show runs from 8:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. and gates open one hour before the concert. Tickets are $30 per vehicle.
